When we were considering buying a horse, we were told by so many different people that it was cruel to have only one horse, and we would have to buy a companion for Gypsy.

When we were talking to a fellow who owns a petting zoo we asked his opinion as to what would make an easy keeper - goat, sheep etc. Well it just so happened he had a even better idea.

He had a little filly who had spent the summer doing the exhibition rounds. But she was a bit too big for the zoo, and he wanted to get rid of her. She was only slightly halter broke, not for riding at all. But as a companion for Gypsy she seemed ideal.

The other animals he owned picked on her something awful. She was so timid the first couple of weeks I wanted to give her back as I thought she was way too much for me. But she has calmed down a lot.

Joule worked her magic: showing me how to halter break her, and Maggie has turned out to be a yearling with the sweetest personality ever.

I am putting off riding her untill I am a better rider, but she is going to be a sweet horse to ride, she is so willing to please. She is a real keeper, our little Maggie
